Will a 14" x 6" minilite style wheel with a backspace is 39p ( 4 and 7/8 inches) and the bolt circle is 4 on 4.5" ( 114.3mm) work on an 66 MGB? I know spacers may be required but not sure on how much.

No they won't. The stud placement is different.

My error. Had a brain fade. I thought that you had posted this in the Midget section and no a 4x4 1/2 won't fit on a Midget, but will on a B. Don't know about the offset though.

Lee, offset is the actual problem and I am not familiar with it.

try again!

Backspacing one half inch for the rim thickness, 3 inches for half the rim width, 39mm for the offset. Thats 5.04 inches, 25.4 mm to the inch.
MGB's have a 0.25 to 0.5 inch rear axle offset to the left, that makes every thing a bit vague.

My 25 positive 15 by 6 wheels with a 195 by 60 tyre on them have approx' one inch between the bump stop and the tyre. That's on the inside of course.
The outside has about 10mm to the guard at the closest point of two thirds of the way back.

I have never measured the distance between the tyre and the front 22mm antisway bar, but it is close. You could work it out by measuring the clearance on your current wheels.

The studs are one inch long, so unless you replace them, that will restrict the spacer that yo can put on. You don;t want the nuts only hanging on by 3 threads, they won't be for long!

You probably need to install longer wheel studs and run about 1/2" of spacer to amke it work, but it will work if you do that.

After much to-do, I found it was easier to just buy the correct wheels for the car and forget about trying to make something fit. FWIW.

Something to be said for that as well, and i have nice new 15x6s wheels for a MGB for sell, that weigh 13.7 pounds, thatn come with silver or black centers, ok shamless plug over :)

We will see just how nice these VTOs really are. I have commanded :-) one of my customers to order a set from Hap and I might have them, with new rubber installed as early as a week from Monday.

Pictures will be supplied.

Guys, what would be a decent tire to go onto Minilites, 14 inch 5 1/4. Will be getting the steel wheel rear hubs soon, will be putting 1/4" spacers on both sides since the diff seems to be pretty well centered.
Just a decent tire? Maybe some all weather rubber? Do they balance these with the stick on weights or the actual lead ones? Recommendations?

Hey, where'd you get the hubs??? You may want to mention what type of driving and who will be driving the car. ;)

Hey Steve,

Got the rear hubs from you:) The front ones are recon units from ebay. Just regular driving. Not too spirited:)

185/70/14 is the closest size that has the same rolling circle as the OEM wheels, then of course you may chose to play with lower profiles. If you Google the term mintylamb, you'll get a cool webite that has want site owner calls tire-o-rama, it lets you compare different tire sizes, for example I currenltly running 195/65/14 on 14x6 Superlites, and getting ready to switch to 15x6 VTOs and use the tire-o-rama on mintylamb to find a size near the same rolling circle as my current tire, and it turns out 195/60/15 are almost the same exact rolling diameter.

Like Hap says, 185/70/14 would be stock dia. Plus 1 conversion is 195/60/15...same dia with lower aspect ratio and wider tread. I have the 195/60/15 and the speedo and odometer read perfect. The functioning odometer comes in handy for some of the club rallies. ;)

185/70x14 is very slightly larger than the stock 155/82x14 and 185/65x14 is slightly smaller. There is a better selection of tires in the 65 series so that is what I would vote for.
