I never do this but I'm gonna crow a little bit. Several months ago on e-Bay, I saw a set of wing mirrors up for auction. I was needing a pair for my MGC or just to have 'cause I love NOS stuff. These happen to be a perfect set, still with original boxes and instructions. The most interesting thing about these mirrors was that they have my last name on them. They were made by a company in England by the name of Wingard. I was going to have these no matter what they cost. I got them for less than $100.00 for the set. They are perfect and look great. I am not sure I am going to put them on my C when I finish it. It just depends on how the car turns out. I took them out and cleaned them up and am going to list a couple of pix of them. Tell me what you think. Bill WINGARD.

NOS items have their special "charm", and these are 2 beautiful and classic items.
If you are an originality freak, they are not the correct ones for USA cars, but on the other hand, I wouldn't mind a bit about originality if I could get 2 nice mirrors with "MILLO" stamped on them...

Bottom line - beautiful mirrors. Go for it.

Cheers,

Koby (Millo ;))

Madge had bullet mirrors on her when I bought her in '81. The Lucas/Wingard style mirrors were one of my first changes. I love the look and the visibility all 'round is fantastic.

If I could find this style with my name on them? That's just the Universe's way of making a styling suggestion as far as I'm concerned!

Congrats on the find.

I love those mirrors. So right for our cars.
Wingard was a familiar name in the accessory business in UK when I started driving in late 60s.
I fitted my 1961 Mini Van ( BMC 850cc version) with them, and also put a "wrap around" inside mirror in it too !

I think that at some stage they were swallowed up by Britax.. Still a well known Co. in the accessory business.
Whether they still make this model of mirror I know not.

Hi Bill,
I believe Wingard was the original manufacturer of the interior rear view mirror for the MGB/MGC. Look at the back of you interior mirror, you might be surprised at what you find! :)

Period names for mirror manufacturers:

Lucas
Tex (Magnatex)
Wingard
Jemca

Fender mirrors on late 60s MGs were typically Tex, sometimes Wingard. Late 60s & 70s door mirrors were Tex. Interior mirrors were Jemca and Wingard, and maybe Tex. Tex is still in business.

Tudor also made mirrors, but those are pretty unusual.

Very nice find. I recently posted a pair of "Jemca" brand fender mirrors (used) in the 'Buy& Sell' section that are quite similar in shape (but not NOS condition!).

I have had a couple of MG's with Wingard mirrors. My '53TD had one that was the rear view mirror. I have not checked my '67 GT, but I will. Thanks, Bill

The interior mirror on 65-67 MGB GT is a particularly hard part to find. It was made by Jemca and the plastic had a tendency to disintegrate over time. Most used ones are in pretty rough condition. If yours in good condition, well, take care of it because it is hard/expensive to replace. They are however interchangeable with the 68-69 Wingard mirror, although the shape and color is different.

BTW- (and this is pure coincidence) - in case you are looking for a NOS 65-67 MGB GT rear view mirror, I happen to have one for sale on ebay now.

BTW #2 - I left out "Desmo" brand mirrors from the above (I have only seen these as wing mirrors, but they probably sold all kinds). Known best for the 'Desmo Boomerang" mirrors (with spring-back arms).

Just bid on the mirror. I'm the high bidder right now. Could always use a spare. Thanks, Bill

I found a set of NOS clamp-on mirrors on eBay for the Riley this year. Different manufacturer (US Made), but a similar package design and also all-around cool. The car had never had mirrors before, and I couldn't bear drilling a hole in the wings.

I think they fit it pretty well!

Look like the same mirrors I put on my YT back in the 60s, but not showing the 45+ years of service that mine have seen. Got them originally for the "spring-back" feature after getting the Lucas style knocked out of alignment by every passer by. Tex still makes this style, along with a number of other "spring back" mirrors. For those of you that might be interested check out http://www.texautomotive.com/classic_exterior_mirrors.html

Love that Riley!!
My Pa had one in the UK in the 80s - Burgandy one - fun car to drive and the interior smell was unique!

Jonathan, I won the mirrors. When do you think they will ship? Bill

I shipped them today via airmail. You should expect to get them in about 5 days.
