My GT no longer has the original cardboard radiator duct. I see that MOSS sells an ABS replacement panel, does anyone have experience with these? Fit, finish?

We've got hot summers out here and this just might be necessary (not to mention fill the big gaping hole in my lower engine bay).

Thanks

Scott,

Jim (the guy you met in GA that Saturday) just bought one of the carboard types and it looks nice. He had it shipped to my house first.

I have used those in the past, sprayed them with a few coats of poly, to keep the moisutre out and never had a problem.

I don't think the ABS versions are necessary but they look a bit cleaner.

Had that thing up over 90 yet?

Hmmm, I didn't know these came in cardboard...

To answer your question: I've had the car to 75 maybe? It sings on the highway, truly. Speaking of, I did come across one of the previous owners by pure chance. The car was in New Hampshire before it made the trip South. Not sure how long it was there but she's well-travelled. It's kind of a cool history. I should get one of those old US map window appliques where I can color in the states it's been through.

It's been raining here fairly steady. Between that and work I haven't had much of a chance to do anything with the 74.5 but drive it. Poor me, right? Tomorrow I pick up the custom-fit cover, that'll keep the sun off it while I'm at work.

Anyhow, back to the radiator duct... Where can I find a cardboard one? Does somebody repro them?

Thanks

I sorta figured it out. The '77 and later model cars have that piece available in cardboard. The '74.5-'76 cars get the ABS Plastic or nada.

I guess I'll bite the bullet and order one. At least we'll have a firsthand account for reference..

Yeah. That makes sense.

That's funny because I used to live in NH as well. We were both residing i the same state and I had no idea! Coincidence?

Curious indeed.

Another option would be to make one out of aluminum to fit. One of the members on the forum made his out of aluminum and it looked great. Unfortunately I can't remember the name right now, but I will check when I get home.

I got one for my 74.5 and when I first installed it I used wood spacers to lower it to get it to fit. I had it off later and managed to reinstall it without the wood spacers to lower it. I forget now why for sure it wouldn't fit the first time, but I think it was that the holes didn't line up or there was interference with the cooler.

I have one on my 75 and without the cooler it will fit no problem with the cooler it's tight but fits.

I have the ABS air duct and engine compartment panel on my 80 - like them both. They fit perfectly.

I'll order one out today and see how it fits up. Pics will follow when I finally get around to it...

Thanks for everyone's input.
