Any problem with the GT glass coming from them? I need one and the price for the tinted is great.

Hey Carl - No I put one in my 73 GT last winter from Moss and the fit was perfect - a New rubber seal is well worth the money at this point - good Luck
Yeah, The rubber seal in mine is harder than the body right now so it is all coming out. I am going to drop an new one in when it comes in.
Are you going to install yourself Carl? If so, I can hardly believe my good fortune! Please write up a detailed step-by-step with high resolution photos and send it to me so I'm prepared when I finally get around to it. :) If it's not too much trouble...
I am going to do one also.. How about putting a write up in the library..
I have a 73 GT which needs a new windscreen due to severe pitting. I have put it off due reports of how nasty a job it is. On another BBS a person asked what was the worst job encountered on an MGB and the GT windscreen was right up there with the rear crossmember removal. It seems the chrome finisher is the sticky part....Any comments from veterans?...........I have seen just this week that Moss has come out with a new B windscreen which is made in England from the original toolings and is a much better product then they have had in the past......anybody know if they stock a new GT screen?
My mechanic's trick is to cut down by half the edge of the chrome that goes under the rubber gasket. He had said it made it much easier to get it in place. I'll find out soon enough :)
The recent crop of "genuine Triplex" windshields are made by Pilkington and seem quite good, if that is what Moss is offering you. Because of sand and rock chipping I have had 4 different windshields in my GT since restoration, each one a different make, and my current one is a Triplex gotten by the local installer (because I demanded it). I have gotten better than average (of my experience) performance from this Triplex glass, and it may be worth a phone call to you to ask Moss if that is what you'll get or something else.

Had a pilkington put in my 80 by the local glass shop (I didn't request any specific brand). Looks great. Fit better than the ones my mechanic used to get from Moss.
Couple of points:
If you call around, you may be able to find a local installer that can source the glass - and install it. Unlike the roadster, the GT is fairly conventional as far as windshield installation goes. (Our local "come to you" glass place will do it - they use PPG glass)
One of the complaints regarding the Triplex windshilds on roadsters was slow "fogging" of the laminate material. I believe this is caused by moisture which is slowly absorbed by the laminate. It is probably much more of a problem in roadsters than the GT due to the mounting process - sealing the edge of the glass into the surround is much harder on a roadster.
Just my $0.02
Eric,
Are you speaking of the current crop of Triplex windshields or the OE ones?
I have seen this happen: a new windshield is installed, a "sealant" used, and there is some discoloration or fogging around the edge. Turned out this was due to a reaction between the sealant's solvents and the plastic binder between the layers of glass. Happened on a friend's pickup. Or, along the same vein, it might be a reaction with the "lube" used, if any (folks and installers use all sorts of stuff for lube). Or, it could be lousy binder reacting to water, I guess. Not saying you are wrong, Eric, but depending on what has been used, both for binder and for lube or sealant, there are some possibilities nobody anticipated.
