I see there are 3 listed pans in Moss, but can't tell which is the Heritage...Assuming the most expensive!!! Can some tell me which pans are Heritage with the captive nuts welded on the pan...Going to place an order with Chris Roop for my '78 RB.

458-940 or 458-885

Thanks,

Dave

The repro pans have captive nuts welded in them now also, atleast the ones from Victoria British did that I got and I think Chris said the ones from Moss did too (they are the same pans). Tony @ the autoist is the man to talk to for VB.

yes Dave. I just installed pans from VB (least expensive) had nuts and very minor re-shaping. I cut a notch around one nut on passenger side and that was about it. I am a contractor by trade, not a welder, but "tack and bend, tack and bend". I kept tacking the metal where it fit tight, then used a hammer to bend ahead of the tack for a good fit. By the way Dave, use a good fan for ventilation while welding, especially in the 'footwells', and a spray bottle of water. I had a few flare-ups from oil/grease laden underbody from the welding. It's also a GREAT idea to keep a fire extinguisher handy, very handy.
Cheers!!

Early repro panels from Moss have the nuts and bolts. 68 and newer are still Steelcraft, and do not have them.
For your 78 you would want Moss p/n 458-885, Heritage, or 458-950, Steelcraft, for the left hand.
458-940 is 62-67 only.

Hmm, that's weird, guess VB is the only one to supply repros with the nuts welded to them... I could have sworn Moss repros and VB repros were the same company, steelcrafts.

I went with the heritage panels and they were great. Once the old pans were out they dropped right in. Fit was perfect.

68 and newer Steelcraft floorpans come without the nuts and studs. You know better than I what VB carries though. This question came up just last week with a customer so I asked my guy to look at the pans to see what was what.

Help. I'm pan fried..
Reading this forum, now I am totally confused. I thought I would purchase from Classic 2 Fabrications $84.95 each
but now I think I should go with the real thing and pay double.

Any thoughts,would be appreciated.

And while we ae on the subject, Do any of the options for floorpans NOT have the upturned flange around the perimeter? Royal PITA to cut off and not correct to leave on.

BMH floor pans do NOT have the upturned flange. At least the ones I used were BMH and didn't have it...

If it helps, I got some steelcraft panels from Chris last year, for my 79, and they do not have the hardware, but do come with the lip, which must be cut off, unless you have tunnel, and or inner sill damage to cover.

That is interesting...I just installed a set and they most certainly had the flange. The seat mounts and harness studs were also present.

The owner supplied these pans, so I have no idea where they came from?
