I am trying to put an original SU Fuel pump in my '78 that had been previously "upgraded" to a universal fuel pump and all the original mounting hardware was removed.
I need to get diagrams or pictures of the proper installation of the SU fuel pump so I can try and figure out what parts or brackets I need. Pictures from underneath and from the trunk would be very helpfull.

Gord, can't help with pics but it goes up into a rubber ring in the trunk. Clausager has some pics of what it looks like.

I know that there is a rubber seal that it fits through and there is a metalbox that goes into the trunk to cover it ( I just lost out on this part on ebay!)
I have finally got bolts to fit the two holes on the pump itself but I don't know how the pump is actually secured to the car body on the original mounts.

Again from memory, I think there is a band like a hose clamp, but that may be a generated memory.
My 64 (no longer with us due to fire) had a clamp that went around the pump and connected to the under body. I think the 78 has different mounts but I can't find anything that shows me what it looks like.

Gord - those two 5/16BSF holes in the bottom of the pump are not used on any MGB mounting. On your 78, it mounts like Chris said, it just slides through the rubber grommet in the forward bulkhead and is secrued by a hose clamp around the grommet. Nothing else is needed.
Chris - any chance you can scan the pictures from Clausager and put them on this thread? I've been trying to get hold of some pictures of the mounting to have on hand for people.

Thank you. I now have a feel for how it mounts. I am having a problem finding the grommet but I have sent emails to a couple of the parts sources and hopefully one of them will be able to sell me one.
