"I discovered myself short of our agreed upon purchase price by a small, yet significant amount."

Huh?

I bet his 9th grade English teacher is proud. I was hoping there would be a surprise ending or at least some additional, flowery descriptive phrases like.............

"The roundness and fullness of the four mounted tires gave hint to the richness of the 1970's air encapsulated within. Akin to opening an ancient Egyptian tomb, I bent down near the right rear tire and with my manicured thumbnail, gently depressed the tire valve releasing 39 year old trapped air. The heady aroma of Firestone scented vapors and the rush of having inhaled such a treasure nearly caused me to faint. My gentle host surely noticed but was too much the gentleman to voice his objections."
