I have solved the mystery of the disappearing oil. I am seeing blue smoke but only after the engine warms up. It is a light smoke when accelarating but decelerating. But it is a lot of smoke if I run a few miles at highway speed. We I let off the gas to take an exit I got two big puffs of smoke.

As a refresher I just had every gasket on the engine replaced, removed smog equip and installed a new webber.

Thanks!!!

Not sure what your year car uses but if you don't have a PCV valve, it might be worth installing one. Sometimes the creative plumbing of previous owners (especially those who remove smog gear to get back to an unfettered, smog equipment free engine) make mistakes that cause other problems such as uncontrolled vacuum into the crankcase, sucking up oil mist like crazy.

That said, it could more likely be bad/worn valve guides, worn or broken rings, or ovalled cylinder(s) from accumulated wear. In the worst case, a cracked head or block. I am sure that others will have more suggestions.

With your Weber and year model of car your emissions hose connections should be like those in the last picture of this article. <http://www.mgexperience.net/article/weber-hose.html>
