NASCAR has had much adieu about nothing recently with their "Car of Tomorrow". IIRC the year was 1957 or 1958 when, watching the Tennessee Ernie Ford TV show, his sponser (Ford) had a little jingle: "Ford, Ford, new kind of Ford, CAR OF TOMORROW, by Ford". So, there ya go NASCAR is 50 years behind the times!

And I understand the drivers hate the "COT" :)

They hate because the front and back bumpers are even. No more lifting the rear end of the car in front of you. Now they just hit bumper to bumper.
