The weather was sunny over the week end inToronto and the temperature just above freezing.
I took the A out for a short drive. As I accelerated down the road a loud unpleasant noise came from the dash and the tachometre would fluctuate. It appears that this noise is coming from the tachometre drive cable. I assume that the low temperature has something to do with it?
Should it be disconnected and lubricated? If so what procedure should be followed?
Cheers
Johan

Easy to do, disconnect from the back of the gauge and pull out the inner cable. Check that it is not kinked and if it's ok grease all but the top twelve inches or so (to prevent grease from entering the gauge) and refit.

I think graphite is a better lube than grease...especially in the top few inches....
Lock Eze is the liquid sort which dries to powder down and over here.
