Hello there.
I have just bought my first Midget.

I won't have it in my hands until Saturday, but thought I'd get a head start on a forum or two.

It's a 1972 LHD North American market car.

I'll have many questions I imagine.

I'm familiar with the A series engine, just not pointing this way around.

Will post more info when I actually get it in my garage on the weekend.

Welcome.

Biggest difference will be bleeding the clutch!

And the tires are GiNormous.

Thank you...I'll have a look at those links.
And speaking of bleeding the clutch....
...that is one thing the owner mentions needing doing.

Car recently had a new slave fitted, but new owner is unable to bleed properly due to health reasons.
I'll need to figure that one out first....not even sure where it is yet.
I'll be trailering it home ( 9 hour round trip ), and the first thing I'll tackle is the clutch bleed.

Thanks very much for the Toon Army info....I had NEVER heard of that, and I'm originally from the UK

Back with the car.....had a long day. From what I can tell so far I am going to have to hone my electrical skills....not much works.
Car starts right up....but very load due to rotten pipes. Couldn't try a driev though because clutch slave needs bleeding...will look into that tomorrow. May need a new top as some seems have come apart and a couple of snaps have ripped off....I think it's a cheaper aftermarket top.....a shame...as the plastic windows are perfectly clear.

It is black......looks like an OK paint job, but not professional.
Original colour was red I believe. The engine is blue....what colour would the head/block of a 72 be originaly?
72 yes......

i think the engine from 72 on was black, before 72 olive green. im no expert only had my car since may 2011 but learning fast! its nearly all stripped and ready for sand blasting next week. great cars to work on but very fustrating at times as they have been messed about with over 40years, especially the wiring!
Heathrow airport closed this morning as london has had a dusting of snow! pathetic really!

A '72 (12V) would be black, but between early (army green) engines, they were Healey Green, which was a light metallic green (Same as used on the Big Healey engines). I haven't checked, but believe this began with the introduction of the 1275. I know for certain that by '68-69, that was the case.
