I'm going to install a new radiator in my '77, so my question is: Can you install an earlier model radiator that actually has a radiator cap and filler on the radiator? Such a pain to try to refill the later models, and if so , can you do it without any modifications?:S

Modification will be necessary if you want to change the radiators, but not worth the trouble. just to make servicing it easier. The later one is larger and cools better. Granted, it is harder to fill, but it's a better system because you have an expansion tank.
If you put the earlier radiator on your current support, the radiator will sit lower than the highest point, which means you will not get the air out unless you open the plug on the thermo housing. Sort of defeats the purpose. The early rads sit much closer to the engine, so they are higher than the later Bs.
I'd stick with the later rad,...as said previously larger capacity and better cooling.
But, in case you haven't already, get one of the better thermostat housings with the brass plug and it will be much easier to get the system absolutely full of coolant.

Thanks for the info guys, and the private messages on this post as well. And Dave, luckily I already have the newer housing with the brass plug. Wanted to see if anyone had gone the older way, but looks like I'll follow the great advice and go later model with the expansion tank. Gonna go ahead while I'm at it and replace the fan switch and bushing, as well. Just makes good sense. Thanks guys and HAPPY MOTORING !:)-D
