Getting ready to replace the main harness. Any tips or warnings from those who have done it?

Thanks.

Put your harness to firewall grommet on first. I use an Elastrator tool (available at livestock/feed stores) to open the grommet up. If you put the part that goes through into the cabin into nylons or pantyhose, that protects the blue tape from dings. Start connecting at the left horn and work back around so that you have the harness properly stretched out. Good luck!

I'm really scared to ask what the heck an Elastrator tool is.

Is it a tool to artificially dilate a cows birth canal during delivery?

Think of castrating farm animals with a VERY tight rubber band. The Elastrator tool streches the band enough to get it on.......... then ooooowwwwwweeeeeee!

Elastrator! Excellent! Now I have an answer to the Twitch my old girlfriend used to threaten me with!

Gives a whole new slant to the thread titled "girl friend helpers" (don't piss them off if you happen to have one of those elastrators laying on the work bench).
Cheers,

A good and correct wiring diagram is a must, especially if replacing to get rid of numerous DPO work arounds

My thanks to Chris for the stocking idea and the gromet went in without much trouble - didn't need the much maligned "Elastrator tool". Now if I can figure out which of those four brown wires forward of the starter trunk go I'd be in better shape.

Scott

If its the 4 browns just of the juction that goes down to the starter, they just all tie together, I fabracated a terminal strip then taped them up,

Sure looks like it, mine wasnt there, DPO had cut them out and they were all just sitting there.
