Been reading the forums for a few weeks and wanted to say hello to everyone.
I have just taken ownership of a 56 magnette, my information on this car is very limited hopefully that will end really soon :)
The car has been sitting in a buddies backyard since 1980, was supposed to be a family project and has fallen through the cracks. so in about a week im going to tow it home and start the rebuild, i know off the bat i will be needing a back window interior kit, engine/trans rebuild. basically a complete resto.
ive been a hobby car builder for years but im anxious as hell to get this one going. any info/ tips feel free to pass them my way!

Welcome to your new addiction! Start putting together your parts list and reading the last few years of posts here and you'll learn a LOT! Once you get it in your hands, the rewards will begin!!! Hopefully you're planning to cvome to GT35 In Wisconsin in July? That'll be a great place to document some beauutiful restorations and take notes on all the details you'll be enquiring about soon!!!
yes i have been spending alot of time reading these forums some great info on here. if that show wasnt in my busy time of year i would probably have a plane ticket booked already :)
Welcome Taylor... Never fear about GT-35 (although it features the Magnettes and will be one helluva show), in 2011 there will be the council of registers "big" show NEMGT Register, NAMGAR, NAMGBR, C register and V8 register all together in June in Reno... close striking distance for you and LOTS of inspiration!

steve that sounds great! it looks like there is a member on here thats in nevada not too far from me also. nice to know the west coast has a good sized following on these. yes i am geting super excited about this car its a real departure from the american cars i have worked on most of my life.
Taylor,
Good luck with your new find! Do you happen to know if you have acquired a ZA or XB? Finding another rear window should hopefully not be to big a challenge. Not quite as easy as an MGA or MGB to find parts for, but parts are out there to be found.
Regards, Ed
im assuming it is a za but i will know for in about a week when i go pick it up. atleast it id only 2.5 hours away :)
Welcome to the happy family of Magnette owners, you'll love every minute of it. B)
I'm a couple hours from you over the hill in Carson City (Nevada). Possibly the one you are thinking of. ;)
Can't say I'm any kind of inspriational source but I have my moments.
If you've looked at my cars on my page you will recognize my garage today, with the boxes slightly rearranged.
Congrats on your purchase and hopefully we cna swap lies someday soon. The better half and I tend to enjoy the vinticulture of the foothills from time to time and attend Dandelion Days in Jackson in March (nothing to do with cars, much less MGs).
Welcome.
Taylor,
Are you on our Z Magnette Group North America chat list? We exchange Magnette info almost daily. ' Could be you're on and I don't know it. PM me if you are interested but not yet a member.
Holiday Cheers,
Allen
And put that GT35 on your calendar! July 26-29, 2010 in Lake Delavan, Wisconsin. That's our group (ZMG) co-sponsoring it.
Cheers again,
Allen
