Hello,
yesterday evening i pulled the clutch slave cylinder of the car. I discovered there was no Piston Retainer on the cylinder.
How lucky have i been in the last 6 1/2 years. Or is the change that something happens very slim?
Wil

Wil there is no retainer. Only a light spring on the backside, and some rubber boots had a metal insert that was crimped to the O.D. groove. Just the rod and pressure plate kept the piston from going too far and coming out.

The retainer is that metal piece left of the rubber endcap. It is not there on the slave cylinder at my car.

Wil is right. That metal piece is listed in the parts manual as "Retainer - Piston 27H2127", and I remember seeing it last time I disassembled my clutch slave. Though, it doesn't appear to be sturdy enough to "retain" much in the event the pushrod became detached from the clutch fork but I guess that is its function.
