I attended a European Car Show and Art Festival last Sunday in Winter Haven, FL. There were a number of great cars there including this one. I took a bunch of photos of this car to share with you all. It is a 1933 MG Police car of which I believe there are not too many survivors. The owner was a real gentleman and loved showing his car. I believe it won an Amelia Award at the Concours this year. I felt fortunate to see it up close and I wanted to share with you all:

Wow, that's gorgeous.
Love the blue wires that match the interior... striking against the black paint!
Thanks for sharing Rick.
That is a cool car and a great restore.
Blue wires hmmmm that gives me an idea.
At least the drums are black.
Thanks for the great pics
Rob
Does Bill Ritchey still own that car? I'm assuming it's the same 1933 MG L1 he had at our 2004 car show since the license plate is the same - but it had red wheels and trim then. Here's the pic from 2004...where believe it or not, it was 2nd in class to a TD1500!
nice!
and well presented as well (the Bobby helmet is a good accessory)
I love seeing early engine management and operation technology.
Screw on sparkplug connections, and i BELIEVE i see an SU fuel pump? Something in the top left hand corner of the 9th pic, with the carbs in it.
And the way car manufacturers were so proud of the components, with their logo on damn near everything and a brass name-plate.Its classy.

Don't be so sure. That's an L1, sporting a 6-cylinder engine. It's no rocket, but it did OK in the early 1930's England.
wow! I don't think I've seen a car that early with a 6 cyc! cool!
Joe, don't think Bill & Sarah had done any restoration to the car in '04. If that's the car, they did their usual wonderful job of breathing life into it.

That is Bill & Sarah Richey's mg from Bowling Green, KY!...Bill actually had this one professionally restored to compliment his entire collection of MG's. Great photos!...I'll have to forward this post to him (he is in FL for the winter)...did you see his handcuffs?
David
I'll attach a couple more photos that I took in his garage!
more photos...note some of his other "toys"...Rick, how do you get those photos so large on your post?
david
Does it really say 337 miles on the odometer? Why it's farther than that just getting here from the UK.
I don't normally go ga-ga over trailer queens, but that is one fantastic automobile.

To get photos to display in their native resolution, do not use the attach feature. You need to have the photos on a web server (your own or hosted) then simply make a reference to them with a line in your message referrign to the website. You can find the instructions here: http://www.mgexperience.net/phorum_faq.php
In the section titled "Can I use HTML markup in Phorum?"

David,
Yes, it was Bill and he was very cordial. He was happy to ring the bell and siren for us. Very cool. Yes, I did see the handcuffs and sorry I didn't get them better into a shot. If you take a look at the last photo you can just see them in the corner of the blanket on the tonneau. Man, what a car and so finely done!
Great car and great photos. Thanks for sharing them.
That car is too nice and too rare to drive on the highway and shouold not be called or classed as a trailer queen. It is an iumportant piece of MG piece of history that is being beautifully displayed for all of us less fortunate to admire and learn from.

Crossflow head and (I believe) an OHC as well. Too bad they abandoned that expensive layout in later years! :D
Beautiful!
Of course, the car pre-dates the police helmet by 20 years. :)

This is why I don't like concours shows and trailer queens. Sucks the fun right out of it.

And to be really pedantic, the registration number shows the car as being from Lancashire, not Yorkshire as shown on the helmet badge. :)
Yeah, I'm just being difficult - it really is a beautiful car. :D
Its got me thinking about painting the wire wheels BRG to match the new body color for our B...but definitely not the brake drums...

I really think you would need to paint the drums a contrasting colour. Green wires on black drums just wouldn't look right. The drums need to be yellow.
