Tyrone

I got a phone call from a guy today who is interested in trading his 100-6 for my streetrod. It is a '59 with the 'poor man's Cobra' 289 conversion. The guy had talked to a friend of mine over a year ago about a trade for my car but had never tried to contact me until today. Quite by coincidence I saw the Austin-Healey at a Goodguys car show in July and I wasn't too impressed. My thought was that someone took a perfectly good Austin-Healey and ruined it with a V8. But then I remembered an A-H 3000 with a 327 in it at the International Austin-Healey Weekend at Warwick Castle in England in 1987. I still have a picture of it amongst my AH pics from when I had mine. And of course I'm taking a perfectly good GT and putting a V6 in it so what is there to be uppity about. So I'm giving serious thought to going over and taking a better look at this car and maybe making a deal. I never drive my streetrod anymore, maybe 100 miles a year, so a change might be for the better. What do you think?

Tyrone,
My suggestion would be to have a closer look at the car, and anything you're concerned about w/V8 conversions in general or that specific car, join the yahoo modified healey group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/modifiedhealeys/
and post the questions. (Could be the owner is a member there.) One thing they're constantly on is cooling, that much I know.
Also have a look at the Nasty Boys web site at http://www.ntahc.org/modifiedhealeys/
There are ~200 modified healeys there, some with quite a few tech photos.
I have a Bugeye with a 3.4. I wouldn't mind a big healey with a V8 to go with it. Good luck.
