Is there a rubber seal at the bottom of the stick? Right now it rides loosely and a little oil seeps out. Not a big problem, but the bottom of the engine is dirty. I was told by my mechanic that MGB's don't leak oil. They just mark their territory.
Thanks,
Doug

Sounds like your floats are not stopping the fuel flow and it's overflowing into the carbon canister. Probably just need to check or rebuild carb float & valve..........

If you wish you can make a decent seal there.
This would be an overnight fix. Clean the dipstick until it's completely oil free. Apply a coat of grease to the top and inside top area of the dipstick tube. Put a ball of black RTV silicone at the top of the dipstick and up against the washer. Wet you fingers and elongate the ball, stick the dip sick in the tube, and let it sit overnight or up to 24 hours. Pull the stick out and trim off the excess silicone.
I used this tip from JDW myself. It works great! Thanks for posting it John!
If your leaking alot of oil out the dipstick be sure to check that the crankcase breather system is hooked up properly, if you added a shiney new valve cover make sure that it has a breather or breather cap installed
the MGB engines should have an upper end breather and a lower end breather all the time
