Who makes a remote oil filter adapter that bolts on to the filter boss on the BMC b-series?
Ok... I know how to get the filter adapter. Now, how do I make this pictured oil plumbing into a -08 AN fitting?

David Headley, here's picture of one, he offers them with one or two ports depending on if you are running accusump or not. It is suppiled with the correct bolt for the cneter and bolts up to the block as same as the original oil filter housing does, you use a copper thrust washer to seal the bolt on the adapter.
Hap, I've found that the bolt will seal nicely w/o a copper washer as the bolt face brinnels into the aluminum.
Hey Dave,
I sent you an email today about getting one of those adapters. I also have another question I just posted on this thread about how to convert the pictured OEM oil line fitting into a -08AN type fitting. I know I can machine something, but maybe you guys have figured out something easier.
Dave may very well have something, if not, check the Pagesus catalog. They have several adapters for British pipe to dash series fittings
Paul,
We used to cut the threads off flush on that fitting and then tap it for 1/2" pipe thread. Then install a pipe to AN fitting.

Sh*t. Pegasus has what I need...PN: 3252-8-8AN, but it's out of stock. arg.
Paul, be carefull with this as the tube extension your holding in the pic above is important as it keeps unfiltered oil from going through your crank bearings. I also recommend you use AN-10, not AN-08.
I to my old 1098 oil cooler fittings to the roundy round shop and they matched it up so I could convert to an8.
I took mine to a local hose fabrication shop, Rubber Specialties, in Pensacola. They cut the top end off and welded the -10 AN fitting on in its place. Very nice welding, I should probably have a couple more done.
John, that's how I do them. Simple job and I open up the through as well.
Hi
I built my own fitting, just by welding a JIC adator
Regards
That's what I need...any one have an extra one of these beauties? Can someone make me one? Pegasus has precisely the correct adapter fitting that preserves the tube area, bit it's out of stock.
Should I be running -08 or -10 hose. This is not a race car, just a wild street car. The stock oil cooler lines appear to be about the equivalent of -08.
Paul, I do essentially what Michel has shown. Years ago, I made a decision to use only AN fittings on my race cars. I take the original oil line fitting, cut off the existing threaded portion, and TIG weld a steel -10 AN fitting to it. Then, and here is the real elegant part of the secret trick that I never tell anyone, take your existing alloy oil filter mounting assembly, and cut off the actual filter mount portion, retaining only the original portion that mounts into the block. Get an aluminum -10 AN fitting, and TIG that into the oil feed channel in the mount. This assembly, as you know, can now be rotated to have the AN fitting pointing anywhere you want it. I use a remote oil filter mount, with 2 inputs and 2 outlets, bolted to the firewall panel on my MGA, makes for very easy access to the filter. I plumb my cooler, Accusump and pressure sensor into these extra ports. Looks robust yet elegant (like me!), and parts can be found at any track! RZ
OH, and just so you all know, you can source AN steel fittings that just have the AN side, and made especially for welding on application like this, but you can also take a steel NPT to AN fitting and machine/grind off the NPT side and to the same thing.
I take a double ended AN10 fitting, cut it in half and make two. FWIW.
I could be all wet... It is raining today... but I thought Pegasus had adapters to turn BSP to AN

Thanx for the heads-up Steve. That's something new since I last looked at a Pegasus book.

Dave,
Scroll up, I think Paul had earlier posted the P/N, but Pegasus was out of stock currently
Ralph- I was thinking about doing the weld on the old oil filter adapter. It's sort of a thin wall on that part, have you had any problems with that breaking off? Maybe I will try that to same some funds to buy the braided tubing/fittings.
Is there a reason why a hose isn't made with the BSP on one end and the -#AN on the other??? The local hydraulic supply house I go to is happy to make these for less than replacement hoses.

You can get this done, but not always in braided hose which is what most racers want and in some application is madated by the rules, add to that AN seals waaaaaaaaaay better than BSP. One nice thing about AN hose is you can assemble them yourself with simple tools, BSP has to crimped.
Paul, here are some lousy photos of my modified oil filter mounts, with an aluminum -10 AN fitting welded on....this is the 'other end' of the oil system, to compliment the -10 AN steel fitting welded to the oil fitting as shown in Michel's photo....
Here is a lousy photo showing the mount, bolted into it's original location, and my remote 4-port oil filter assembly. Hope this gives you some ideas.....don't show it to anyone else, so I can keep my race tricks secret.....RZ
