Jeff, Think supercharged Cannuck :)
Rusty no they are 4130 steel, and yes they weight considerably less than a stock rods, about 200 grams per rod less than most of the staright MGB rods, and 400 grams less than the early angled rods.
About the only people using aluminum rods are drag racers, and they are throw aways, I worked with one set of them back in my V8 days, you can't even resize them, most of them have teeth on the parting lines, so they can't be resized.
Darn Hap, now I have to go wash my eyes out with soap ;) What beautiful curves and lines, so smooth to the touch I bet. Light yet so strong ! They just don't come much prettier than that. Shame on you for posting such lewd material. Please give us more!!
Hap, you're going to wear protection when you handle those, right?
And somebody's just going to lock them away inside a block where no-one will ever see them again!

You may not see them again - but you'll see the results. Beautiful machine work. Tell us about the rest of the engine ------

I'm not building this engine, I'm just suppling rods, piston and rings. These rods are for Mike Adams vintage racing supercharged MGB. If any of you wander down to the motorsport section, you've probably seen Mike's car, it was very famous in Candian racing, and was race in the 60s with a superchearger, against much larger engined cars, and won a bunch of races. Mike restored this car a few year back to it's former glory, and has been racing it with a non S/C engine, now it putting back to it S/C state. This is not a normal Moss S/C, but rather the original set up used in the 60s, I believe it's a Judson and uses a 500 Holley for a carb.
So Mike and me got together, I got him a set of Carrillo rods, a custom set of JE forged pistons that will put him at 8 to 1 compression so he can run the amount of boost he needs, and designed the pistons to use a set of gapless Total Seal rings.
Actually it is a Camden Supercharger (roots type). Another unique feature was very near the first use of multi v belts for Raybestos. I was fortunate to have all the original pulleys except for the blower, that I had machined to provide a moderate 10 pounds of boost. The one in this ad would be about 20 pounds.
Mike Adams
