When I put new brakes on my car I used red paint on the calipers and I like them.
I decided to use the rest of the can on the rear drums. I haven't made up my mind if I will leave them this way or not. I would like your opinion.
Thanks, Phil

My opinion.....the red caliper looks fine, as it does not overwhelm the wheel as does the red brake drum. Take the drums back to black.
I did the same thing Phil, and like the look...think it is a to each his own thing.
What is the color code of your car - think I'm going with PPG 46446, but not sure yet. Your car looks nice.

Bruce:
Sorry, PO painted it. He said it was DuPont Imron Jaguar BRG.

Very festive :)
I'll be doing mine in red but the car will be white with a red interior so it will fit. Not sure if the red goes with the green however.
But if you like it keep it, it's your baby
Just what you need, another opinion. I'm interested because I just re-did the front suspension and painted the calipers red. I had to put the car in storage as soon as I finished it, so I don't even know if I like mine.
Looking at your car, the calipers look great, especially against the green. My concern about the drums is too much red. If you had discs all the way around, I'd be for it.
Take it for what you paid for it! Cheers.

I agree.
The red calipers look good, but I think you should change the drums back to black. Too much red for my taste.
I'll go completely old-school and vote for black drums and silver calipers.
Jaguar actually had two racing greens. I had difficulty getting a nice green for my B. I think it was the guy mixing it, so I decided to go with a modern color code. After looking at all different make new cars I looked at the Jaguar agency. They had in 2006 a Jaguar racing green which contained both silver and gold metalic and a British racing green which contained little or no metalic and was a tad darker. I went on a nice sunny day and looked at the new cars displayed outside. That way the color rendition isn't being affected be the flouresent lighting inside.

Is there a reason you want people to take notice of the calipers and drums? The red paint draws your eyes away from the lines of the car and makes you want to look through the wire wheels to figure out what's going on back there. As beautiful as your paint job is, I'd want to draw their eyes up to appreciate the rest of the car and make the wheels a little more boring, per se.

My opinion? Don't like the red drum. Not even too fond of red calipers, even though they do cut braking distances by 25%. :) But it's you're opinion that counts.
I'd go back to black on front AND rear. Although with the green body it WILL look very seasonal at Christmas time..... ;-)
Philip, I looked at your other pic's of your "B" and I think the black looks best. Now that that's out of the way my question is about the side molding? Painted are is it gone. What ever you did I like it, good job. Regards
Painting mechanical parts red is usually to show off some kind of technology. Not much point in showing off the fact that you have drums brakes! Semi-gloss black is much more classy and easier to keep clean. Just my opinion, and only because it was asked for. ;)
Hi Philip,
Firstly i think your car looks great by the way. In regards to the drums and calipers Id go with the majority, you have a nice set of minilites and I think the red on the drum and calipers detract from the profile of the wheels. But as with anything if you like the look, keep them red. Just my opinion.

Phillip:
The moldings are gone along with sidelights.

I asked my dentist for an opinion and he said I had yellow teeth. :)
agree with jeff....
the red draws your eyes to the wheels...if that's what you want, go for it...
for me, it is a distraction from the rest of the car, and i would paint drums and calipers black.
Mask off an oval and re-paint silver. Then it will look like you have disc F&R to the ignorant. ;)
Red calipers, YELLOW drums!
Purple bumpers, a Bee that hums!

Don't forget the dots and lines so they think your rotors are drilled and slotted! :) :)
Philip, molding and lights gone Very Smart Man and makes for a neet looking job and change my vote from good job to Great Job.
That's what I plan to do with my 78 "B" (Miss Molly) late this summer if all goes well.
Miss Molly is green like your "B" and that car of yours looks great. Regards.
The red drums should go. Your green color is tougher to judge based on the photo. The best "modern" dark BRG is the Jaguar racing green from the mid-80s. If you find some of the photos of the 2 x original racing MGCGTs, you'll see that they did a quick respray of dark BRG over red on the first one and the red on the bottom of the front valance was left on and in a weird, twisted way, it works. A dark green also works better with the original black vinyl hoods on the roadsters. A lighter green, like in your photo, was also an original color, but it is a bit tougher to work with insofar as contrasting colors go. The orange rear turn signal lights and sidelight markers, for example, look okay on the lighter green cars, but I wouldn't put them on a early drak BRG roadster.
Of course, all of that is beside the point. It doesn't matter if the car is painted brown, the most important thing is to drive it. Every day.
It's like pulling out your original LP on Let it Bleed. PLAY THIS RECORD LOUD.
I like the red drums and calipers on the right car. Don't think I would do it on a green car.
My car is black with red accents. The red calipers and drums are the same color as the engine paint. The carpet kit in the trunk and the piping on the black seats is red. The wheels are chrome wires.

Hmmm, the only problem there is when he drives off and the caliper goes round with the wheel! :)
I would stick with the black, thats to nice a car for that kind of distraction. But I think it would work on a rally MG
A car is for life not just for Christmas :) :)

That looks good, fits the car fine.
Black--or, even better, aluminum drums. I can't stand colored drums, but ymmv.
My personal taste is for Black on brake parts, but with your color combo of BRG and the tan top (which looks great btw) I wonder if a light gold might give them the accent you are looking for without standing out too much.
Ralph Yingling has gold on his BRG roadster, although his chromed spokes might set it off a bit more than your wheels would.
Rear drums will be OK with Tremclad but calipers run too hot for normal paint. Best bet is something like this http://www.duplicolor.com/products/caliper.html
And I'm sorry, but coloured calipers just strike me as far too Rice-boy cute. I'd go for the Black Satin colour.
