I read that a lot of people are adding panhard bars with the stock rear suspension.
Panhards are usually used with coil springs or coilover rear suspension systems. Why are they using a panhard with leaf springs??

I agree, Steve. I fought it for a long time. I finally tired of the rearend squirming & the tires rubbing as the rear shifted under hard cornering. The panhard rod flat works, so I use it.

I haven't started my build yet and was just wondering why. Maybe the springs are too narrow or the connection points too week to hold the axle in place. Thanks for the reply.

My '75 B came stock with what, probably 70 HP? With the SBC, I am somewhere between 250 - 275 HP. After the SBC was installed, I found the rear end to be very squirly. The panhard bar pretty much eliminated that squirliness.

Brad, SBC with 250+ hp & no tramp/tork arms, to stop spring wrap? Not safe in my book! I have seen too maney rear springs brake. Rear spring break you do not know were the car and you are going to go! Will change lanes on you so fast! I will/would not build a V-8 or V-6 B without them. Take the batt. box cover off & get someone to drive your B & look at how much the rear axel moves, you will see what I mean.

Yes, I was planning on traction bars too.

A panhard bar is next on my list of modifications. The driver's side tire rubs under hard cornering. Sitting still it's about 1/2" away from the wheel opening. That's a lot of movement!
