I had been watching a thread last week about spraying the inside of the rockers with Penetrol.
So, when I go to buy this stuff, what exactly am I asking for?
Is Pentrol a brand name with various products or is Penetrol THE stuff.
Thanks in advance.
Penetrol

Penetrol is made by Flood. But the Penetrol name is in BIG BOLD font on the can, it looks like the brand name. It was originally made for wood as a paint prep. I found it in the paint dept. at Home Depot.

Yep - most any paint store should have it; I got a gallon can at the Sherwin Wiliams store but only used a fraction of that, and it went solid on me before I could use it again.

I've never used Waxoil, but have used Penetrol. It's my understanding that Waxoil needs to be reapplied occasionally. Penetrol dries to a tough yet flexible finish, much like a varnish, so is very long lasting.

Think of Penetrol as like linseed oil. Very thin. It flows and creeps very well. It then dries hard. Waxoyl is much a rusty jones kind of treatment (which was pretty good if used correctly). it is waxy and thick unless warmed. It coats very well and stays somewhat flexible but does flow or creep all that well.
