72.024-mm +0.8-mm equals 2.875-in +0.030
That makes them 1500cc +030 pistons.
Does the box say "AE Pistons"?
The AE part number is 14039
for MGA and ZB Magnette 1500 engine.
Set of 4 part number is KR1212
ThanX Barney ( For the reply and great Site that you have )..Sorry to say that the Boxes have no real markings..just a Sellers ticket ...
the Pistons are marked with 73 8 ( No "Front" or "STD" etc ) ... the head is Flat and not dished ..
Inside the pistons it has 302 cast into the piston wall ...
Picked up all 4 pistons plus rings etc still in their protective wrapings and boxes ..
they will probably end up on Epay to help fund a STD set of pistons for my Re sleeved engine unless someone on this site needs them ..

Ooooooo! 030 o/s flat tops. Just what someone needs to go with their 1500 rebore and upgrade street cam. Those should give about 175-psi compression with a standard cam, slightly less with more duration on an upgrade cam. Come to think of it, my spare engine is a 1500 +030 fast street cam with a hole in one piston. Food for thought.
Ignorance here. When I redid my engine, my pistons were found to be .030 with flat tops, but I didnt take note of any markings, although I didnt find any "Front" markings on top.
Were standard pistons dished?
Second, I found a yellow painted number marking on the cam. "35" or something like that. I jotted it down somewhere, but is there reason to think this is a non-stock cam? Did the factory paint on yellow hand applied lettering?
Thanks,
John L.
All standard LC and HC pistons were dished, except for the 1622 HC engine which had flat top pistons to go with larger volume combustion chamber.
Thanks Barney. Any comment with regard to yellow marks on the cam and crank? Did stock engines have these marks?
So much for my memory. Photo shows cam marking of 14. I believe it was E-14.
