I got the car ready for a trip from St. Louis to Memphis tonight - about a 600 mile round trip.

I fitted cup holders.

What do you do to prepare for a long trip. :)

I change oil and filter, check and top off all fluids, I take a spare fanbelt, points and condenser, check air pressure, and basicly make sure all lights are working. If you keep up and check your car on a regular basis, then you will have a good feeling about your car. I've taken quite a few trips and it's always been an adventure. Oh, and make sure you have a credit card, just in case. Only kidding! Have a great trip.

I am planning on leaving San Bernadino, CA for Portland, OR via Yosimite this next Saturday, 13 October. This week I have:

Retorqued head bolts (Approx 2,000 miles on rebuilt engine)
Adjusted the valves
Changed the oil and checked other fluids. New filter also
Cleaned the air filter
Checked all the lights. Speedometer light is out but I can't get in there to change it.
Checked the spare.
I have new plugs and a new belt in the boot along with a limited tools kit.
Installed an alternator. Easy update
Checked wiper blades

Thinking now I may run into snow and thinking of chains. Years ago I had a set of plastic chains for my 260 Z car. Does anybody know of a source for these now?

And this morning, the last system that has not been fully rebuilt crapped out - the clutch pedal went to the floor - it seems my slow to operate clutch was down to more than just the hose, which I replaced a few days ago.

I guess I'll replace both cylinders!

Have a great weekend Mike and keep Janel in check. :)

Safe drive to all.

Therein lies the problem Paul, the B is dead, it's clutchless. It won't be going to Memphis.

However, like I said, this is the last system to rebuild, after this there really isn't anything that should go wrong for several years at least!

I'll 2nd that one Derek...I'm not nearly as old as you...but I just can't seem to hold it anymore, when it's time to go it's time. Maybe that was to much info for most.

Well....I'm in St.Louis at the Westport Sheraton Chalet...also sans MG. (Corporate meeting for Schnucks).

It's strange being here....a hotel that I've stayed at numerous times over the past 15 years....but at an MG meet....THERE ARE NO MGs OUT IN THE PARKING LOT....NO VENDORS....NO PARKING LOT PARTY....my day and tomorrow night is full...but I'm supposed to meet Mr.Rushing on Sunday....call him if you're available and perhaps we can all meet up. I'm checking in with him on Sunday morning.
