Question about this part .......

After about a month I finally got down to finishing the rebuild of my gearbox. My question is in regards to this part that I got from VB. This is the locking washer for the front end of the third motion shaft. As you can see there are only two ears facing one way. The originals had a set of ears facing both directions. Has anyone encountered any problems with this piece and which way for certain do the ears face, towards the lock ring itself or the synchronizer hub? It seems to me there should be two sets of ears, one to engage the synchronizer hub AND one to capture the locking nut. Thanks, I just want to get this thing overwith and back into the car.
