I've done a search and can't find the post I'm looking for. I think I read here that the tops used with the fold-away frames are different than those used for the stow-away frames. In other words, am I correct in thinking that if I replace my current fold-away with a stow-away frame I'll need a new top?

I've been using a late foldaway Robbins top on my packaway frame for years. I cut a small section out of the female side of the rear bow and rebent the bow halves so they would once again mate. I think the section I cut out was about 2 inches. I could measure mine I suppose. The snaps that go onto the "B pillar" didn't match up but a little bit of steel and my welder fixed that. I really enjoy the zip out window. I think the packaway tops may be available with zip out windows these days but they were not when I installed mine. BTW, there is more head room with the packaway frame than the Michelloti folder because of a greater bow.

The flatter contour of you existing setup will likely not mate with the packaway frame. I installed a new top over my modified frame and was able to pull and tug where needed.

I also have a Robbins fold away top that I use with a stow away frame. When I bought the top I didn't realize they were different.

It works, but doesn't fit as well as it should. It gaps a little at the middle/top of the door windows. The casual observer would never notice it, but I'm aware of it.

It probably helps that this top was originally installed to fit the stow away, rather than one that was originally installed on a fold away, then converted.

Cool, thanks for the quick answers.

A while back I picked up a stow-away frame from a salvage yard since I've always kind of liked those tops. To add to the mix, I also picked up a "real-thing" roll-bar that will only fit with the stow-away top. I love junk-yards.
