My '64 center console that holds the speaker was looking very tired and scratched. I had just finished doing the wrinkle paint on the steel dash, so I decided to try it on the speaker housing/center console. It came out looking pretty good.
First I sanded it with 250 paper to rough it up, then hit it with three coats of wrinkle paint followed by heat...

I was concerned that the plastic/wafer material of the console would not take the paint, or that it wouldn't wrinkle. I priced out a new console, and its over $100, so I decided to give this a shot first....
Actually the finish looks just like the dash....

Looks good, it's original and you save a hundred bucks. Now how bad is that? :thumbup:
