Is it possible to separate the aluminum side frames on a factory/works hardtop, and replace broken plexi panels with new plexi?

I've never seen one up close, so I don't know how the plxi fits into those alloy frames, or how they are held together.

Yes, the frames disassemble for plexi replacement and frame refinishing. The side windows mount to the top with some screws. It's put together kind of like a windscreen frame. Check The Roadster Factory online catalogue. They have the parts for the original Watsonian fibreglass hardtop.
The rear window is removed by taking out the shiny trim from the seal. Then the seal can be pushed away from the top and the window removed.

Benny,
I started in on a works top and then found another that was in much better shape. I did manage to take the side frames completely apart and get the perspex windows out, they sit in some rubber U channel in the frames. The frames should be held together with 18 6-32 phillips flathead screws, I think they are ¼" long, 82º heads. I ended up having to make new corner brackets as the OE ones were rusted beyond reuse.
Here are a few pics of the whole deal.
Hope this helps.

Yes, very helpful, thanks very much. They look even simpler than I imagined.
