Normally, this is done with springs out of the car, but the 78 is not a restoration, and had the "dive one way when it got gas and dive the other way when decelerating" syndrome, so not pulling the spring sounded good if possible. Sure enough, it can be done. Disconnect the rebound strap. Jack the car up and place floor stands under the jack points. Undo the sring bushing nut and remove the bolt. Lower the floorjack then place a scissors jack between the front of the spring and the car body. Jack the spring down then use a gear puller to push the bushing out of the spring eye.
Installing the new bushing is best done using the bolt/nut/ washers method of drawing the bushing into place.
Now, in my case this was a asimplification since the bushing and bolt had fused together, necessitating the SawsAll application. As the blade was dull, a new one had to be found and it is Easter Sunday in small town America.

My pass side front spring eye was stretched apparently from a rear end impact and I also had to cut the bolt out. I used a die grinder. Wasn't a particularly fun job.

Under the best of circumstances this is a tough job. Ask me how I know! :D

Chris,
I found the cheap sawsAll blades didn't work very well but the expensive ones cut through it like butter.

Truth time. In this case, SawsAll is used to describe the tool while the saw is actually made by DeWalt. The Black and Decker blade cut like you describe.
