I noticed that two of the four door hinges in my '63 have play in them. That is the play is up and down. Should there be up down play in them? Can these be restored and if not, is Moss the best place to buy 2 new hinges?

Thanks,
MArc

I don't think there's any service that can be performed on them without machining.

I bet any good machine shop could put new (oversized) pins in them.

Great idea since they do have a lot of play in them now....

I used to redo the hinges on TDs by just drilling the pin hole out slightly larger and putting in a new pin. I made the pins out of a hard bolt that was long enough to be solid through the hinge. I chucked the bolt in the end of my radial arm saw via a drill chuk adapter. Then I hit it with a big grinder to make the head round.

I've done MGB hinges like this. Get a bolt with the shank long enough to replace the hinge pin and cut it to fit. Drill out the hinge holes to fit(tightly) the bolt shank.
Its a good, long lasting fix.

You could get some replacement hinges from a RHD car from the same side and they won't have been used nearly as much and fit them.

New ones are going to be horribly expensive and a waste of $.

Good idea......I know of a good machine shop that may be able to do the job so quickly they may not even charge me....I've given them enough biz recently....

Fun Fun Fun.....
