Just a few picks that you all can add would be interesting...found a few here and there. But your photo's would definitely make me feel better about where my current restoration is... as far as progress.

Same car one year later, they pulled it out of the junk..weeds...and steel girders.I had my trailer standing by,But after further inspection?I decided to put my hat over my heart and say a silent prayer....left it where it was, and went home.
That's heartbreakingly sad, but based on the bodged front end and the VW taillights, I'm sure you made the right choice.
Here are a couple of pictures of mine sitting in the POs yard. He bought it 12 years prior to fix up for his daughter's graduation but "neither happened", so his wife wanted it gone.
Great photos, keep them coming. The MGA even rusts elegantly.
Pardon me if this has been covered, but was this one customized?
The tail lights and the grille opening??
Landon
P.S. Oh I see now. Sorry, I came into your comments originally from FB.
Good spotting.
I do like that reworked grille concept though. I do....hmm
That is sad to leave it as it lies :( Couldn't it at least be given as organ donation (parts car)?
Just for grins - Here's a couple of pics, 1st is mine when I saw it for the first time deciding to embark into a resoration, 2nd is one a man had in a surrounding town in his woods that we had to cut trees to drag it out, it was taken for a parts car.
Two wheel barrels of rat droppings later?
I have been buying family wrecks from this one family for years now....
This engine was good to go..only had a blown piston. It also had double oil dip sticks on it.
Even rats need a home...I guess.
Picked this up as a parts car. It was a poster child for "Moss Motors"
But was a windfall of parts, for me and others, from here to Florida. All that is left of the main body are the front frame rail, doors and a couple of questionable wings. Lots of misc. stuff I am still sorting through 3 years later.
So sad :-( its like watching those Sarah McLachlan commercials with the abused animals.
Great stuff.
Makes reassurances that the more you all find, the more valuable ours are gonna be. :)
Yes some sad music to fading pics would be nice...Like Amazing Grace...
That poor car - it looks like his grill is frowning! Sadly, I am strangely drawn to the taillight placement ... I'll duck now!
"I am strangely drawn to the taillight placement ..."
Same here, but I didn't dare mention it. Luckily you're ahead of me in line, I can tuck in behind you when the brickbats show up.
Here's one I brought home several years ago. Numerous people on this forum ended up with parts from this car. I rebuilt the 4.1 differential and carbs and they ended up on my car. The plan is to rebuild the 1622 engine and put that in it too.
John
Here is my $300 parts car. It looks pretty good in the photo but no so hot in real life.

Not left for dead, will probably start on it next year.

Show 'em the other side, Stan!
This was before and after...Lazarus was left for dead I couldn't walk away. 1958 MGA Roadster frame 1998-2002 (LAS VEGAS NEVADA) powder coated.
Here is my coupe project. Has not seen light of day since 1977. Let the games begin.
There is hope.
3 pictures from the day I bought it and one after picture. It had sat outside about 100 yards away from work for years. A neighbor had parked it uncovered behind his garage after it quit running. If you are the current owner of this car GHLN / 90954 contact me I still have your original VIN plate.
I confess I really R E A L L Y wish I had some more up close images of the attempted front grille opening alteration attempt.

I am too, maybe just because it is different ans assaults the senses with the unexpected.
...OK....dead or alive...I drive these...beauty is in the eye of the beholder...B)-

You are not the only beholder that thinks they're beautiful, Wyatt. I have seen the mga in the top picture on another of your posts and think that the door looks awesome, along with the rest of the car..
This was the day I sold Lazarus...
And back when she was up on the rack..
well this is one ive been meaning to put up here. i forgot what year my uncle said it was. but it was in an elictrical fire and everythign was burnt to the ground...

and here another one...sorta...?

Some of you guys south of the Mason Dixon line are buying these cars and using them for parts. We, who live in the North East have been buying what some would call junk yard cars and restoring them. I guess "Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder." Notice I didn't mention anything about our Yankee clan using common sense. The truth is for those of us living in the North East, replacing trunk floors, rebuilding rusted frames, and using a spool of Mig Welding wire is our sense of an MGA with "PATINA." Do you detect any envy in my remarks? MGs up here, unless brought here from the west coast, down south or kept in someone's garage from new, look like the photos at the top of this thread. If you live in the Northeast, most of the cars pictured in this thread, some of them left to continue to exist as the homes for rodents, look like really good candidates for full restorations.
Mike, I know exactly what you're talking about, even in NC, where the cars fare a little better than your neck of the woods! In lots of build threads I see here on MGE , the parts car is in better shape than most cars I would consider a project...I have friends that are into GM muscle cars- a standard project involves replacing all the pans, front to back, inner and outer wheelhouses, all sheet metal, sometimes part of the cowl, too. It's just something that's almost a given.
Henry, The attached photo shows just the driver's side of my MGA frame. The passenger side as well as the floor support metal was just as bad. I admit to the fact that as Jimmy Carter said, "I am not too old to lust in my heart." In this case I am just downright jealous of our southern and west coast guys who start their projects with good solid cars. Our starting point begins with no inner sills, rusted off A and B posts, sometimes swiss cheese trunks etc. That process begins after we use a sawzall to cut through a couple fender bolts because the inner nut in the engine compartment has twisted off when I tried to back off the fender bolt to remove the front fenders. Oh well, we must love the process or we must be crazy to tackle some of these projects. But, it is what it is. MGs found in our states are subjected to a much harsher climate. OK, now I feel better. How about an AMEN from the choir??
Love these Colorado cars.
Had to dig a little but I did find some rust on this 1960 1600.
Hey Bizcane,
That's what I"m talken about. You've brought some of that Pennsylvania rust encrusted iron home from the salted streets of our commenwealth. Now, you are going to be involved in a real restoration! We're talken blasting, grinding, cutting, welding, more griding restoration. Welcome to the club.

I'm reluctant to take part in this, simply because my "MGA" looks like/IS a pile of rusted parts that I got out of a field. Sort of a done rusting in piece, now you're all comin' home with me kinda deal.
