So today I went to the ofices of a former Moss distributor who dies a couple of years ago. I've been buying things here and there from his wodow - she has a good friend and Brit car afficinado helping her with pricing and parts identification. Well today I brought home all kinds of cool stuff for my Healey project at great prices. But one item I bought is just boithering me and maybe you guys can help. It was a lot of 6 dozen SU carb needles. 60 or so of them are #5 or ZH. I'm not sure but for some reason I want to say that #5 is the stock needlle in twin carb MGBs and I know that ZH was the stock needle in MGTD but I think it's also the lean needle for MGBs. Can anyone help me validate that? Basil

Fives were the OEM for the fixed needle SUs in semi-early Bs.

I don't recall the ZHs and couldn't find a ZH needle here. Perhaps it is another designation ending with an H. ... http://www.teglerizer.com/suneedledb/090needlesortjava2.htm

Here is another page that might be useful for the more experienced SU loon. It is sometimes hard to read those faint stampings with ancient eyes. LOL .... http://www.teglerizer.com/suneedledb/index.html

My favorite SU toy... http://www.winsu.co.uk/

Basil if you end up having any RU needles for HS6s, call me, I'm having a hard time finding them. Yep as mentioned above #5s are the stock fixed needle for the early HS4s, and any HS4 can use them if they also use the solid needle conversion needle bushing that fits into the piston, Curto makes the bushings for this.

Basil,

A ZH needle is for a .100 jet in the HS6's for a Volvo P1800.

Jimmy repeats that sort of stuff as he hits the pillow every night. LOL
