Saturn Alternator - How do you get this DAM% casing off?!

How in the world do you get the back casing off to turn it 180 degrees? I took off the three bolts, but the thing will not budge. Do you have to take off the pulley and fan?

MAybe I got screwed in what I asked for. Iw as told to ask for a mid-90's saturn alternator. I did. (1992 to be exact). It is a Delco model. Duralast is the Autozone name. The mounting bolts look close, if the front pulley looks a little too far forward, but I do not have it bolted up yet.

I need to rotate the back casing, right? How can I get it apert to do so..This thing is kicking my a$$.

We did this a few months ago on our B and as far as I remember, we had that same problem. We ended up just got to our local Advanced Auto and they could remove the fan and that made it to where we could VERY carefully turn the casing to the proper position needed. Once its in if you hear something like a tapping, thats the fan on the alt clipping the brace on the right front. It will stop very soon, and theres nothing to worry about...

Well, forget AutoZone. I will NEVER go there again. I took the alternator to them and asked to have the pulley removed. They told me no, that they were not supposed to do that, and wouldn't do it.

I told them to refund my money, got the cash, and walked out.

Guess Advance Auto or Napa is next.

Edward, go to an alternator repair place and let them do the work.

yeah im not to fond of auto zone, i love the guys at my AA...but yea and alt repair guy would be perfect, he could do it all for you in minutes
