Not sure where Kurt found the photos of this ex-works Midget, but must admit my heart skipped a few beats after studying the images and realizing the significance of what I was looking at.
I was under the impression that the car was presently for sale, and felt pretty sure that it could have been the second (and unaccounted for) Midget sent over for the 1965 Bridgehampton Double 500. After spending a completely sleepless night full of anxiety, I phoned Peter at 8:15 Pacific Time this morning, only to discover that the car had in fact, been sold some years ago. The car is now restored and resides today in England. More here . . .

Oops, thought it was current as most dealers would update their websites, what's stranger is the car I
said it might have looked like at one time is the same car post-restoration...too funny. Very cool car,
love the way it's set up.

I first heard about this car back around 1999. I was seriously considering investigating and buying it if it was for real. At the time, he did not have the Heritage certificate (you can see the certificate was not issued until 9/2000) and Peter was not very good about following up with info to determine it's authenticity. If I remember correctly, he wanted about $5000 for the car in the condition you see. A lot was missing from the car, but many details seemed to indicate authenticity. Without being able to trace it's provenance at the tiime, it was too big of a gamble.

I would firstly like to say, PLEASE do not think that I am trying to be rude. I am sorry, Prop, but based on that statement, I just don't think you get it! More importantly though, apparently no other AMERICAN Spridget enthusiast "got it" either, when the car was offered here in the U. S. for sale ten(ish) years ago. The evidence was right there in the photos and Heritage Certificate for anyone with not much more than pedestrian knowledge to see, as long as they were willing to pay attention! It almost makes me glad to learn that the Midget went back to England, for I am certain that IT WILL be appreciated there.

Why do you say that? It's easier to shape than steel and welding is welding once you get on to it.Unless yo are going to polish it, it don't have to be perfect.
I had not heard of those GRX cars. The article is really cool. Beautiful car! I'd love to have a look at it.
I think Prop is mistaking the cracked, faded and peeling red paint for iron oxide - he's implying that the bonnet and guards are made of steel, not aluminium. I briefly thought the same thing looking at the thumbnails, but when you look at the larger pictures you can see sections where it has peeled off revealing the aluminium underneath.
