Hi All,

We had our windshield frame powder coated and in preparation it was necessary to remove the visor anchors, visor pivots, center rod brackets, etc. The question is, what would you use to reattach said items? I checked with Moss and they said either pop rivets or screws as they had no supplier for the original style rivets.

Since Moss sells visor anchors and pivots I am certain that someone out there has replaced some of these. If so, what did you use?

I'm inclined to use screws and adjust the length of them as needed so as not to foul the glass or bottom out in a hole before a bracket is snugged up but pop rivets would be quicker although a couple of different lengths may be needed.

Your input is welcome.

TIA,
Joe

I installed pop rivets when refinishing the frame.

Thanks Greg. Did you use aluminum or steel rivets? What diameter? I'm guessing 1/8" but I haven't taken time to measure them yet.

I used stainless steel rivets...but it just occured to me that since this is the only thing I did besides change the body seal it may have been what caused my 28 year old windshield to crack. Maybe I nicked the glass inside somehow drilling out the old ones or installing the new ones. Now I have to take another look at it and see if the crack lines up with one of the rivets.

Definitely use steel pop-rivets. And make sure they are long enough. Make
sure everything is very snug & tight with no gaps when joining.

A screw into the aluminum frame will not last.
