Pushing 30K since purchase of my '71 GT with O/D. Have replaced the screen filter at approx 15K, but wonder if there is recommended
service interval. Do you routinely replace the 20-50 or just top it off and change the filter somewhere along the line?

If I recall correctly, the service manual calls for a fluid change every 24,000 miles.

24,000 miles was probably about 2-3 years worth of milage when the car was built. Every 2 years might be a better baseline, but many seem to have gone years and years without service. AFAIK moisture seems to be what kills them, and then only if they are submerged.

The owner's manual calls for the filter to be cleaned every 12,000 miles or on an annual basis. This is overkill. I have gone twice that on my od trans with no problems. RAY

Engine heat is transmitted to transmission and fluid. Too cool operating
temps dont ger rid of condensation in oil very well
Components breathe outside air and condensation results ,,helps sl udge form..
Did you ever see a dash instrument with water in it ??
