Imagine my surprise when, as I was thumbing through some recently purchased magazines, I came across an article written by our very own Simon Austin, from the Forum! The magazine is "MG WORLD" , Issue 35, June 2003. I had never seen these mags before and was excited to see how many great contributors there were and how much useful information was included.

So, this is kind of a congratulations to Simon on his association with this publication, which I understand spanned some time. In addition, this is a call out to all of you out there who may also be participating in similar or maybe not so similar activities related to the hobby. Authors, engineers, mechanics and what have you. I'm wondering how many folks out there are involved in the hobby other than the usual "scrape your knuckles under the bonnet" on the week-ends stuff!

Me? I can't offer too much regarding this but I would like to hear about others' goings on! (I have all I can do to keep my car going then dig the grease out of my finger nails before work on Monday).

Simon does VERY nice work. I have seen his V8 B which is Awesome!

If you have a copy of the full article Simon I'd sure like one.

Cheers

Haha....I look like such a kid! Thanks for posting that, Dan. MG World was a great magazine. Unfortunately, the publishers didn't feel the same way and decided to cancel it. As I said to Dan in a couple of PM's, I did protest this but it didn't do any good.

I believe I wrote about 4 articles for the magazine. I've got most of the issues so will look them up.

Thanks for the compliment, Paul. When I find the articles, I'll send you a copy.

I'd forgotten what my garage looked like back then. Good thing I painted the floor after that photo! :)

Cheers
Simon

MG World was a very good publication; too bad thay discontinued it. I think I have every issue and find myself leafing through them every few months.

An excellent writer!

Here are two more cool articles by Simon... and these ones can be read online:

Thanks Curtis! I appreciate the compliment. I found the issues that contained the articles I wrote back then; Feb/Mar '03 # 33, Jun '03 #35 (pictured above), Sep '03 #38 and Dec '03 #41.

I believe #41 was the last one printed as I don't have any after this and I did have a subscription. There was a magazine called "Total MG" that came out after MG World but it catered more to the modern MG's............not that that's a bad thing. ;)

The current "MG Enthusiast" magazine is much like "MG World" in that it covers old and new cars. A worthy successor in my opinion.

Nice work Simon! I didn't realize you were a famous British car magazine editor.

Thanks Chris. "Editor" might be pushing it but it was fun doing the articles. Brought back some memories. You should read the journal I wrote while I drove the '74 across Canada and back.

That would be fun to read. Is it in 'hard copy' only?

Yep. Used to be on a computer but that was 9 years ago. I'll bring it along when I surprise you with a visit next year. :)
