I'm swapping out the lump for a KA24E & 5speed. It's going slowly because of finances. The only thing left to buy is the 5speed, and oil pan and have the drive shaft done. I think I'm still going to bring in the total cost at right around $1200.00.
I got the engine from craigslist for $160.00 complete. It had one bad exhaust valve which I lapped till it passed the leakdown. The rest of the motor is pretty tight. I deleted the EGR and the "swirl" unit. No mechanical fan & no power steering pump. It should put out around 160 horsepower from the get go. I should be able to swing the transmission by next week then things will start to move much faster. Maybe in time for a Christmas present to myself.

Heres a before and after shot of the engine.
