Spent the week prepping the GT for the Memphis show today. All started with a clutch pedal getting progressivly flatter while going into a show last Saturday. Park the car in that show, find the clutch master cylinder dry. Top it off with some DOT 5 fluid (thanks Tom Eckert!), clutch feels better, and make the short drive home OK.

Sunday/Monday: Inspect the car, clutch slave a little damp (ah hah!!). Remove pedal box cover to inspect the master, it looks OK. Call Moss, order a new clutch slave (and a few other goodies), pay for 2nd Day UPS. Take advantage of having the pedal box cover off and try re-seal it (vain and futile attempt to reduce the hot air leaks from the engine compartment?). Hey I'm on vaction time, so just enjoy tinkering on the car, I rationalize.

Tuesday: Decide to make use of the time waiting for the box from Moss to show up to replace the carburetur (HS4 AU465's) needles with the "AAA" needles I picked up from Joe Cuerto. This leads into resetting the timing, carb's, etc. Even ran a can of "Seafoam" through the engine (neighbor thanks me for the mosquito control project!)after I finished setting the mixtures and synching the carbs. Clutch still feels OK, so make a short test drive, car is running the best in ages! Park it back in my shop, look at the clutch master cylinder, and see its fluid level has dropped slightly. Slave getting damp again, suspicions confirmed.

Wednesday: No UPS 2nd day from Moss yet. So, start cleaning and detailing the car (first time to detail it since the re-paint 2 years ago). UPS shows up at 7PM with the Moss order! Wife wants to go out for dinner, so done for the day.

Thursday: Need to finish the detailing. Too much fun with the "Griot's Garage" stuff. Car looks great by dinner time, decide to call it a day.

Friday: 1 day until the Memphis British Classic Car Club annual show. I'll get the clutch slave replaced and back on the road today! Replacing the slave goes OK, the line to it seems damp, maybe from the perpetual engine oil leak? Try my "Mityvac' to bleed the system, but its not getting the air out. Run out to Tractor Supply Company for a few 60cc syringes. Force the fluid up from the slave, clutch feels a little better, but can still fell air in it. Maybe swap the positions of the hydraulic line and the bleeder screw would help? Undo the hydraulic line, and just then discover it's got a crack!! That's where the leak has been all along? ARGHHHHH!!!!!!!!! No way to get a new hose before the show, ARGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for letting me vent.....

2nd Day UPS was the only option..., tried to give Moss my FedEx account number, but they have a contract with the "Box Nazis" as their exclusive shipper.
