I believe Gary Alpern just took his windsheild to a shop near him a few days ago. I'd contact him and see how it went.
Stewart, if you find a shop that will do an MGB windshield, I'd really like to know who they are. Mind has a rock chip I'm not too happy with and someday I might need them.
Also, who did you use to paint your car? Looks like they did a great job.
Thanks,
Drew (Pasadena)
TR autobody in Norco did the paint work. Fairly reasonable in price as well.
The shop is called National Auto Glass Co. Its on La Cienega. They've been around since 1946. Although they said they've done dozen they didn't seeing mine.

Windshield was done today by Safelite in Pasadena 1-877-742-4577. Cost 180 bucks for the windshield and new body to windshield seal installed. What a pita. Took 4 and a half hours from start to finish with the last hour and a half trying to get the bolts to start on the windshield frame. The installed a PPG windshield and it does have a slight distortion but not to bad.
They will do another MGB windshield however it will not cost 180 dollars next time.
Safelite is a national chain and if you use there web site for the quote and appointment they will honor the price but not at the Pasadena location.
Steward could you pm me with your phone or I'll give you mine. My glass shop just called and said, "Come get it. We give up!" Yikes. I called your guys and they quoted me $150 just to put the glass in the frame not even on the car.
Gee, don't make all the glass shops in the Pasadena area hate MGB's! I may need them someday. :)
Gonna try my luck tomorrow. The last nightmare before he's on the road.
There aren't any in Santa Monica to hate us here so I'm exporting the love :)
Gary, have you tried a British car repair shop? They often to glass replacement as well. But they will also know how much to charge.
I wish I knew a good one. Darren gave me the referral to safetylight.
For what its worth, I've read that some folks just find a used windshield frame with good glass in it. I saw one on eBay last week that sold for about $140. Looked good in the photo anyway.
I went through a lot of work cleaning up my frame or I would have considered it. At this point I have all the goods - glass, rubber, etc so I think I'm committed to the spiraling mess at this point.

While the putting the glass in the windshield is by no means fun its the process of getting the windshield back on the car that is the muscle pulling swear causing royal pita and doubly so if you have installed a new windshield to body seal. I dont want to do this again any time soon.
