I've sold my MGA, bought in 1985, and with the sale of the BGT a couple of months ago I am now officially MG-less for the first time in 30 years. Surprisingly, I don't feel too bad. The problem is when you restore a car to 98+ point concours standard, it can become a bit of a burden to own. I was feeling guilty about not driving it more, but also about keeping it up to standard, wondering whether something would happen to it while I was driving it, all of which detracted from the driving experience. What I'm going to do now is live for a while without any old cars in my life, and then see if I can find an interesting car that's a top-notch unmolested driver, but not a show car. Current top candidate is a Dino 246GTS, but we'll see what else might come along. In the meantime, happy motoring to all of you - I'll enjoy MG driving pleasures vicariously for now...

Mark, If ever you feel lonely, drive up and you can sit in my 99 point black coupe :-)
...or sit in my 99 cents 57 roadster... 246 Dino ya say???
Mark,
I would have happily traded you. I'm certain you wouldn't have felt any burden by my car being too nice to drive. (:P)

Basil, I just may take you up on that. I get up to the St. Helena area a few times a year.
Indeed. Always wanted one, never had room in the garage. Now I have room. Gotta find the right car though. And I need to brush up on my Italian so I can read the manuals :-)
Mark, we have similar taste in cars, I love my MGA, its not concours but it is pretty good.
I intended to keep it as concours as possible but it was so much to drive that I decided to use it as much as possible and then restore it again when it becomes necessary.
I will probably never sell it until I can no longer get in and out of it unassisted!
But my dream car is the Ferrari Dino 246GT and if ever I can gather the spare cash (or win in the Lottery) I will buy one.
The problem is that over here they are going for about £100,000 so it means that I will have to sell the house to buy one.
Looks like I will have to keep dreaming for now.

Wasn't it Jay Leno who said something about driving them down to 75 points and then starting all over?
I used to do that with T series cars except that I drove them for a couple of years then sold and started over.
