Hello all -
I have a simple question that maybe someone can shed some light on. I have an LH overdrive tranny from a '78 MGB, the correct OD speedo with the correct TPM's for the same, and I ordered a new, longer speedo cable for it from Moss. It has come and I have discovered that the end that screws into the back of the speedo is too big. Mind you, the cable fits in and engages the speedo fine, its the collar on the outer sheath that threads onto the back of the speedo and holds the cable tights against the case that is just to large. Moss says they sent the right part, but clearly that is not the case. Something is strange here.
My question: does anyone know if the OD speedo cable for something else like a big healey, jag or maybe a triumph was accidentally shipped and if any of those might be bigger on the speedo end than the cable for the OD MGB tranny? Hope that was clear and thanks in advance!

What was the part number you ordered and the number on the package you received?

the speedo cable for a 77-80 MGB is unique...you have something from an earlier car.

Hello & thanks for the replies -
Turns out the speedo cable should have been from a 62 - 68, not a late 70's car. I didn't realize there were that many cable / gauge changes. Tech Support at Moss was great (and fast) in their research, correct in their part number recommendation, and exchanged the cables without incident & the new cable was perfect. I guess the ebay-purchased gauge I had was from the earlier car, unknown to me. Anyway all is now well. Thanks again.
