I have a squeaky fan belt. Does that mean it is too tight, or not tight enough? It only starts squakin' around 2-2.5k rpm. Any thoughts?

Any tips for adjusting?

Check your tension. It may be tight enough, but could be plum worn out. Be careful of just tightening the belt as that puts more stress on the alternator and water pump. How old is the belt? It may be a good time to replace it. Usually belt deflection is something like 1/4 of an inch with 15 lbs of pressure or something. Bascially, it should have just a little give, but shouldn't be like a guitar string. I am betting the belt is just getting old. Also, it may not be the belt. It could be alternator bearings/bushings.

Good call. Otherwise, assuming age and tension aren't it, try Bees Wax on the belt for dressing.

Bees wax is good. A bar of soap or a shot of WD40 will do the same.
