One of my new beauties has a lock steering column.. I removed the ignition lock but I don't think that is locking it. It is locked going straight.. It has been sitting for years and may just be rusted up but it seems like it is locked at the top of the column..
Any ideas..
That made it a trick to get it on the dolly for the ride home...

When you say you've removed the ignition lock, do you mean you've taken off the steering column surround and then physically removed the large assembly? This would usually involve removing the 2 tamper-proof bolts

or just removed the key or just removed the lock cylinder from the assembly while the assembly is still on the column (I'm not sure if that can be done).

The steering column lock is part of that assembly. With it off, is the steering wheel still not turning?

If you have removed the lock assembly from the column completely, the next step is to remove the u-joint in the engine bay. If, the column is still stick you can try using some PB Blaster or Kroil dribbled into the top bearing. Or you can ship it to me and for $160 I'll rebuild it and ship it back to you as good if not better than new. I do have to admit, though, that B columns do not freeze up under normal conditions, and if it has rusted up, it may not feel very good once it is freed up again. Let me know if I can help you

Well I'm back.....
The lock assembly is removed completely..
This is a parts car that you can buy for $160. Not going to fix it..
I'll try unbolting the u joint and see it the wheels turn . I still have to get it in my garage to strip...
Thanks...

I note that Moss now sells new racks for $180.
