....can this be done? I would like to have the fuel go to the rear carb first and flow over to the front carb.

That would be the stock set-up, no? That's how mine are.

I am suppose to have HIF, but bought the car with HS4, and am currently filling front first over flow to rear bowl.

This would be the only logical way since the hard fuel line ends more toward the front for easier connection to the front carb bowl. I think I could make a cleaner look by hooking the main gas feed to the rear first.

Just something I am pondering.

Yes you can swap float bowl lids around, we do it all the time on race carbs to get them to hinge the way the want them to so we don't starve for fuel under hard cornering.
