I am rebuilding a previously disassembled TD rack and pinion assembly and I have two questions about the top pinion thrust washer. The first is that it is flat on one side and beveled on the other. Does anyone know which way it goes on? Second, is it a press fit? It appears that you need to set the seal and washer inside the housing and then press the pinion shaft in. The washer doesn't slide by hand to the end of the pinion shaft.

Any advice from someone who has done this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
