Hi folks,
I, a newbie to this or any forum, so please bear with me.
I have a TD I am building and have only the RHS running board. I bought a pair recently on Ebay and when I received them they didnt fit. They are a few inches short of the rear fender and also the grooves for the chrome/rubber strips aren't parallel, but spread apart wider as the head to the front fender.
Anybody know what they are off (They fit to the front guard perfectly and don't appear to have been modified in any way)
Your help would be appreciated,
Cheers

As LaVerne says, we would need photos....
BUT
It is highly unlikely that the running boards are the wrong length, if they are from an MG TD.
If you have removed the mounted running board, did you compare the length? What is the longest length, front to rear, on the bottom side, by measurement?
My running boards are out of the car, and we can compare those measurements.
The poor fit is more likely the result of the position of the front and rear fenders....
There is quite a lot of movement, up , down, front, rear....

Hi,
Thanx for the replies.
Photos will take a while as the car is at my home in Melbourne(Australia) and I am currently working/living in the Pilbarra in Western Australia, but I will call on my melbourne friends to take the photos.
I have an original RHS running board fitted and the RHS running board I bought on Ebay fits the front fender and the tub, but falls short of the rear guard by a couple of inches (appears not to have been modified).
Also, the rubber/chrome strip indents should be parallel, not widening towards the front!??
The difference in the lengths are far too large to be put down to adjustment (IMHO).
However, the photos will tell all when I get them
There is a bush which fits between the running board and rear wing. No 27 on this page.
From memory this bush is about 2" thick and will fill the gap you have.
On a TD the bush is no where near two inches. See the attached pics are from my website. The rubber strips are also parallel.
warmly,
dave
Back again,
Managed to drag son away from his self important lifestyle to take some photos, poor as they are. He was meant to photograph the RHS with the original running board, but instead did the LHS with the fibreglass running board (They are the exact same dimensions, however.
The photos don't show it clearly, but the green running board fits the front fender and tub perfectly but is a long way short of the rear fender, also note the strip recesses aren't parallel. (Could it be off a TA or TB ??)
I will add some more photos
Cheers
I'm wondering if maybe you have a TF running board. Here is a comparison of the two.
