There's probably a really simple answer to this question but how on earth do you get the screw connectors for the tach and speedo cables through those impossibly small grommet holes??

I was wondering the same thing. I have the speedo cable, I have the grommet. Is there a trick?

If you're talking about getting the grommet around the cable, just cut across one half of the grommet and slip it over the cable. Once it's in the hole, it's not going any where. I do the same thing with the wiring harness grommet that passes through the firewall. Any new harness I've used doesn't have the grommet installed.
If you're talking about getting the screw connector through a hole in the firewall, you may have to enlargen it a bit and use a bigger grommet. I had to do this with my GT's speedo cable as it had a larger fitting than stock (aftermarket speedo).
