Texas Trip '07 Day 9

Seven AM, the storm is gone, Sun coming up bright, and the ducks are out on their morning patrol looking for handouts. There’s a light breeze from the West and I shut off the AC and opened up the coach so it could dry out. It didn’t leak much, just what blew in between the windows and their slide tracks and it will dry up quick.

Doris went fishing and I went crabbing. By noon I caught about 30 crabs but only 8 were keepers, about one every 2 or 3 minutes. Doris caught three 12” flounder but 14” is the limit so she didn’t keep them. She kept a couple of small whiting to dress out and a couple piggies to cut for bait. Blue crab is the only thing I’ve ever eaten that takes more energy to eat than you get out of it. I can work up a hell of an appetite while eating them. I woke up at midnight starving for a snack for the first time in ages.

It's all about the technique...you should see some of these locals here (DE and MD) tear up the crabs...

Russ, You have some kind of crab called Dunges or something up there don't you? They're bigger than Blues. I can eat half of one of those and tet more out of it than I didn all 8 of those little Blues. They have to measure only 5" point to point across the shell to be legal. Not many get over 6".
